The answer to my musical quiz: Hassidic music or Greek?

Despite almost 100% of you guessing that the music is Hassidic...including one guy who wrote to me that he used to be Hassid (!) - well...he too was wrong about this tune. Before I explain, here again is my music quiz for those of you who missed it:

Musical Quiz

The name of the tune I am playing is ΧΑΣΑΠΙΚΟ ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΟ. I happened across it in a music store in Athens - one song from many of Greek folk music. The origin of some of these tunes is in the Balkans where people dance and sing to such music. This tune is also played in Turkey, and indeed it sound so Hassidic because of the mutual influence of the Balkans on various cultures. You can find here a clip of the same tune performed by Greek musicians and Turkish. I also added a clip of music from the Balkans and in it too the Hassidic style is very much heard. We aren't all so different after all.

Listen here to the introduction and after about one minute the tune I played starts very clearly,

Musicians from Istanbul playing the same tune.
Music of the Balkans - the influence on Klezmer and Hassidic music can very much be heard.
